Dr. Abhijit Babanrao Deshmukh is a Consultant Gastroenterologist specialising in gastroenterology, interventional endoscopy and hepatology. With a postgraduate MD degree and a double Diplomate of the National Board (DNB) in medicine and gastroenterology, he is currently associated with Alexis Multispeciality Hospital in Nagpur.
After completing his entire medical education (including three years of superspeciality training) from the University of Mumbai, Dr. Deshmukh worked as a clinical associate and research fellow at the PD Hinduja National Hospital and Medical Research Centre, Mumbai, under prominent gastroenterologists such as Dr. Philip Abraham, Dr. D Desai and Dr. A Joshi. Subsequently, he worked as a Consultant Gastroenterologist along with Dr. R Ardhanari at Meenakshi Mission Hospital, Madurai, where he gained tremendous exposure to various therapeutic endoscopies, ERCP and EUS (endoscopic ultrasound) procedures. He has worked with Wockhardt Hospital in Nagpur.
Dr. Abhijit Deshmukh is well-versed in ERCP processes including bile duct stone removal, stenting and pancreatic endotherapy. He is familiar with gastroscopy with therapeutic procedures such as variceal band ligation, sclerotherapy, glue injection, ulcer clip application, foreign body removal and feeding gastrostomy (PEG).
